You could plant a crab apple tree in the spring or offer raisins, cranberries and other dried fruits. Live mealworms are a favourite of robins and they do enjoy the odd Bark Butter Bit (suet nuggets). It's important to note that wherever you put the food it should be where they can find it at ground level. Of course the challenge in winter is keep the snow out of the feeder as well as other critters :) WBU Barriehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10787691727165326269noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1505830161814303436.post-48674406402608666532021-12-18T16:28:45.527-05:002021-12-18T16:28:45.527-05:00I was thinking of putting out bananas and apples i...I was thinking of putting out bananas and apples in a suet feeder would that work?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11500776211292371265noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1505830161814303436.post-72708920216235557482019-11-19T20:37:31.432-05:002019-11-19T20:37:31.432-05:00Hi there, Live mealworms may freeze in the winter ...Hi there, Live mealworms may freeze in the winter but the birds will still eat them if they are frozen. Jelly would be more challenging. I would feed them dehydrated fruit like raisins instead or small berries such as blueberries. Same time every day can help birds get on a schedule. Also whistling or ringing a bell prior to each feeding can help get them accustom to your habits as well. It's helpful to plant native shrubs that have berries such as high shrub cranberry, crab apple and mountain ash. I hope this helps! When/how should you best feed those items then to prevent this? Same time every day so the Robin gets on a schedule?
