Cedar Waxwing Fledgling

1:00 PM

Last Friday I was leading a birding hike and spotted this little fledgling.  It left its nest and its parents were following it around caring for it.  If you saw our post on Facebook about this little fledgling, the question was if you could identify what type of bird this is?  It is a young Cedar Waxwing (Bombycilla cedrorum).   It was neat to see this species so close.  Most times I see them they are at the tops of trees or flying over.  It was also interesting to see the nest, which was quite high in a tree.  For more information on Cedar Waxwings check out the Cornell Lab of Ornithology's All About Birds Website: http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/cedar_waxwing/lifehistory.
